Mimi Tyson is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with training on patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan and practice settings from hospitals to outpatient clinics. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specialization. She has more than 14 years of clinical experience, working in a magnet hospital such as MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and other reputable Teaching hospitals in the area.

She believes in providing patient-centered and holistic care. She considers integrity as an essential element in healthcare. Honesty is a concept that includes consistency in actions, expectations, measures, methods, outcomes, principles, and values—being a bedside nurse over the years has thought her how to establish a trusting relationship with patients and families. Communication is an essential key in care; it allows educating the patients and families, which gives them the autonomy to get involved in the patient’s care plan decisions. Her multilingual skills allow her to connect with non-English-speaking patients in a more meaningful way, helping to provide a more comfortable experience and a better quality of care by communicating in a way the patient can fully understand.  In addition to English, She speaks French and Swahili.
